Flatout flooring has a beautiful showroom and beautiful products. We had help picking out tile for our shower from Agata and she is amazing! She maintained excellent communication and made sure our order was correct and in our hands quickly. I had a great experience and will be ordering more from Flatout Flooring in the future. We hired flat out flooring to refinish some hardwood in our house as what was supposed to be an inexpensive way to update our house and get rid of the terrible orange hardwood floors from the 90s. We were not happy with the work (the floors are still very orange), with the employees or with how we were treated.Let’s start with the positives: prompt arrival each morning, cleaned up their mess at the end of each day, and professional workmanship.Unfortunately, despite the above positives our overall experience was a negative one. We very much felt like we were bait and switched. The sales guy who came to our house told us a bunch of different things were possible, however when the technician arrived to do the work, we were told an entirely different story.Things that we had told the salesman we wanted were apparently never included in our quote, and so then we were quoted several hundred dollars more to get what we wanted (after they had already started the job). Then, the salesman had told us that we didn’t have to decide on our colour finish options until they started the work. But then we were told by the installer that one of the options we wanted (making our red oak look like white oak) involved bleaching the wood which was an extra cost and more work. The installer made us feel like the whole thing was a major inconvenience to him. When we weren’t happy with the stain colour options that we were presented with he huffed about it taking too much time and said there weren’t any other options. (Since researching on our own we know that there are way more than the 2 options with Bona that we were shown.Then, we asked for the job to be stopped and we would have someone else come and finish it to get the results we wanted. But the installer just kept pushing to put the sealer on and finish the job. We ended up giving him the go ahead because we felt defeated after several days of trying to advocate and communicate our wants, and decided we just wanted to get him out of our house and conclude our relationship with this company so that we can hire someone else to come in and redo the work.Overall a waste of a couple thousand dollars, and we felt like nobody cared what we wanted. They just wanted to get the work finished as quick as possible without caring that we truly hated their finished product. We had really high hopes for this work and were left very disappointed. We would not recommend this company for hardwood refinishing.UPDATE: Hello - in response to the owner's note that I have not been willing to discuss these issues with them. I discussed this issue with your team onsite and via email during the job, and then regarding the review back & forth on March 16, at which point I was accused of lying. At that point I had no further interest in being told I was lying and will not be bullied into changing the above review. I'm not sure if your team didn't make you aware of those discussions, but that is their responsibility not mine. I only hope that my review will save someone the stress and cost that we endured in choosing this company.

The crew was great (obviously very experienced) and did a fantastic job refinishing my old floors. And, Liz Smith was so helpful in working with me to choose the right stain color to match the age of my house (1931) and later talking me through my last-minute decision panic! The grain of the wood just jumps out, and I love it. I felt very supported and could not be happier with the results.

Flatout Flooring exceeded our expectations from the moment we contacted them to the time they finished.Agata provides the BEST customer experience I’ve seen in a long time!She takes the time to thoroughly explain the process, offer options to suit our needs, and ensure we were always well informed of the schedule.Hugo, and his team mate Aiden, were top notch!From our initial inspection, we knew we’d found the right person for the job.Hugo explained the process thoroughly and his many years experience refinishing hardwood floors have given us an outstanding finished product!We were concerned we’d have to remove our baseboards (wide solid oak) and the idea of this seemed impossible without making a huge mess.Hugo assured us it wasn’t necessary and he was right! The floors look amazing right up to the baseboard.Our floors had that annoying groove between the strips that constantly trapped dirt.No more! Finished product is smooth and perfect!I would highly recommend Flatout Flooring!!!

After investing a large amount of money renovating my father's house, the floors started to squeak. Thank goodness Flatout Flooring came to the rescue, removed, repaired, help fix the problem, got the job done within a day and ontime before our move.Thanks again Tom!

Her knowledge and level of professionalism goes beyond expectations; she does a great job of listening to our wants and needs but also guiding us to make the best choice for our home. We had a Flatout Fantastic experience with Flatout Flooring when they came to refinish our hardwood floors in our commercial office space and install the ceramic tile in our bathrooms. The entire team at Flatout is knowledgeable, professional, hardworking and passionate about offering an incredible experience for their clients. We were thrilled with the work they did for us and as a result, they were asked to do further refinishing work in our building as well. From the beginning, the team at Flatout Flooring were incredible to work with. I had an at home quote done by Liz Smith and she was very attentive and knowledgeable in what I wanted to accomplish with my floors. I was able to visit the showroom where Liz also helped me find the perfect stain. Both Hugo and Aiden were amazing. Hugo was the main person who worked on my floor. Great customer, knowledgeable and extremely helpful. I can’t rave enough about his work and I’m so happy with how it turned out. I will definitely be contacting them again for future work.
